Christy's interview with MUEN Magazine

HOT OFF THE PRESS: Check out Christy's interview with Muen Magazine!

By: Matty

1. I want to thank you for the time to interviewing me for MUEN Magazine! Tell me who you are, how Dreamkiller came to being, and what you do in the band.

Thanks for the opportunity! I’m Christy, the vocalist and manager for Dreamkiller. I’ve always been involved in the arts through acting, modeling, musicals, chorus, etc. I took a leap and started writing music in 2004. The band was playing out by early 2005. It’s been quite a journey so far and I can’t wait to see how far we can take it!

2. I see that you have quite the portfolio ranging from performing on Warped Tour, to having your band’s music featured on featured films, and opening for a who’s who list of mainstream rock acts. What was the most satisfying experience in your career so far?

We’ve been extremely fortunate in our opportunities so far. The studio is a blast and it’s always exciting to be able to create music specifically for films and TV. However, there is NOTHING like touring and playing festivals! We’ve performed at numerous music conferences, festivals, award shows and special events like “Monster Jam”. A major highlight so far has been touring twice to California, and playing world renowned venues the Whisky A Go-Go, Roxy Theatre, and most memorably, Paramount Studios for the Los Angeles Music Awards.

3. If you were to describe Dreamkiller to my readers, providing they haven’t listened to you all yet, how would you describe Dreamkiller?

Coming from a musical theatre background, I love the idea of combing that style with rock and telling stories. Expect a wide array of emotions, interesting characters, epic highs with chillin’ lows, energy, soul, harmonies, and heart. Specifically, we are a melodic hard rock band that pulls from plethora of influences to offer a truly unique experience.

4. I saw that you all got to headline the Carolina Music Awards afterparty, how was that experience? Describe to my readers what goes on at the Carolina Music Awards.

The Carolina Music Awards is a recognition program for artists of all genres in NC and SC. They have even been expanding to other states to further increase the networking potential. Not only is it great because it gives exposure to local musicians, but it’s a wonderful way to connect with other driven individuals in the industry. We have been a part of it for many years. It was an honour to play the afterparty! It’s always wonderful to be a part of something so beneficial to the local and regional scene.

5. Give me one reason why my readers should go see Dreamkiller in concert.

We are all about the live experience! This is the best way to listen to music – Go out and support your scene! One thing you can always expect from us is that we will go hard 100%. We care about having an entertaining show. We hang with our fans. We spread positivity and energy. We will transport you to another world where you can get lost in our story and sounds. You will leave feeling transformed and with many unforgettable new memories J

6. Congratulations on the release of your band’s latest single entitled “Absolution”. Tell us about that single, the writing process behind that song, and it would be great if you could give my readers insight on what the song is talking about.

Absolution was written during a transitional period for me. It is about casting out the negativity that’s in your life and moving forward. Sometimes we have to just step back and identify when there are influences in our lives that have a draining effect, subject us to negative energy or just plain don’t treat us how we deserve to be treated. It’s amazing how different your life can be just by adjusting your mindset and the situations and people in which you surround yourself.

The song was mixed by Grammy award winning producer, Toby Wright and is already being utilized in “Monster Jam” live shows worldwide.

7. What are the plans for Dreamkiller for the rest of the year?

We are planning on booking a ton of shows soon so if you would like us at your venue, please contact DreamkillerMusic@yahoo.com Additionally, we have a new single releasing before the end of the year called Love vs. Dreams [Full Version]. We are about to start writing our second full length concept album and are super excited about it.

We are also currently in a contest to open for Lacuna Coil. We’d love some support on the Facebook poll, as we would make the perfect support for them! Look for the link on our Facebook page.
